In Chapter 9- Alexus returns home from the kickball game to the very thing that all children dread- CHOIRS! I return to present day Henry Minnelton who has begun to age more rapidly, after turning over the Gatekeeper boots to Alexus. Henry has settled into his home life and attempts to create some sort of normality for Alexus, though like most children she is disobedient and overly curious. Wearing the magical boots, one ages much slower. Henry is perplexed that Alexus still appears to be a child, though in actuality she is around 70 years old.
I also explain a great part of Henry's backstory and why he chooses to be so stern with Alexus. I will further tell his story in detail within the next book in this series 'THE FIDDLER'S KID'. Alexus knows that she has a great responsibility, yet she just can not resist the urge to indulge in extracurricular activities of the childish kind. This chapter is furthermore the introduction of Little Baby Squeeky Face the racoon, who instantly becomes Alexus's confidant and traveling partner.
